Reset?

A new study on human motivation suggests that there are 15 different types of human desires, each statistically unique from others.

Power, independence, curiosity, acceptance, order, saving, honor, idealism, social contact, family, status, vengeance, romance, eating, physical exercise, and tranquility.

War delivered on “power”, “vengeance”, and “honor”.

Religion delivered on “tranquility” and “family”.

Poets delivered on “romance”.

Political philosophers delivered on “order”, “idealism”, and independence”.

Banks delivered on “savings”.

The first wave of businesses delivered on life’s basic necessities i.e. “eating”.

The second wave of businesses like schools & universities delivered on “curiosity” and how to produce for those 15 human desires.

The third wave of businesses like Rolls Royce delivered on “status”

The fourth wave of businesses like Facebook & Instagram delivered “acceptance” in the name of “social contact”.

The fifth wave of business like Cult Fit delivered on “physical exercise”, “acceptance”, and you know “romance” and “social contact” too.

Now for folks short of start-up ideas and trained from Ivey League B-Schools, please destroy the leftover sanity by marketing a nuclear bomb as the answer to our energy crisis, and silently play power with your batchmate who is marketing a *****house in the name of cheap & “convenient” accommodation.

I guess the most difficult task is, to be honest with our own selves. That we are just plastic packets of desires, reciprocally helping other packets of desires.

We call these “businesses” noble and “war” immoral. Well, I think the world really needs a good reset. I think the world really needs another ferocious war, not another gentlemen’s enterprise, just to reassure us humans of our true nature and our true needs.
